Pittsburgh, PA – Following a 90-day public comment period, the City of Pittsburgh is proud to announce the launch of its Pilot Home Buying Program, aimed at simplifying the process of purchasing City-owned properties.
This new initiative is designed to remove longstanding legal and procedural barriers that have prevented many residents from acquiring homes directly from the City.
Approved by City Council, the program reflects extensive input from residents, prospective buyers, lenders, and contractors, gathered during the public comment period. Their feedback was instrumental in shaping the final program requirements.
“The goal is to make homeownership more accessible for Pittsburghers and reduce the red tape that’s too often stood in the way,” said Mayor Ed Gainey.
The media is invited to attend a press availability on Friday, October 3 at 9AM at 2923 Merwyn Avenue, one of the five properties included in the pilot program. Director of Finance Jennifer Gula and City Solicitor Krysia Kubiak will be present to answer questions and discuss how the program works.
