What to Do If Your Tax Payment Is Returned by Mail

The United States Postal Service has made the City of Pittsburgh aware that, on occasion, United States Postal Service sorting equipment may malfunction, resulting in the USPS returning tax payments to the taxpayer.

If this occurs, please resubmit your payment by placing the original envelope—with the return label intact—inside a new envelope and remailing it.

The City will process the submission according to the postmark on the original envelope. The City will calculate and apply any applicable discounts, penalties, fees, etc. using that date.

Please note: the original envelope must be included for the City to honor the original mailing date. Without it, the claimed postmark date cannot be verified.

Real Estate Department Advisory

Taxpayers can pay their 2026 Annual Real Estate Tax Bills online at https://magic.collectorsolutions.com/magic-ui/en-US/OneTimePayment/pittsburgh
Taxpayers who are paying via installments should be receiving their 2026 2nd Installment Real Estate Tax bills the week of April 3rd. The installment due dates are as follows:
- 2nd Installment Due Date: April 30, 2026
- 3rd Installment Due Date: July 31, 2026

Dog Licenses

A license is required for every dog, age three-months and older, living in the City of Pittsburgh. Dog licenses and registration tags help to assist in finding lost pets. Annual dog licenses are valid from January 1st through December 31st of each year.
