All requests for support letters from the Department of City Planning are reviewed on a rolling basis by the Director and staff. If necessary, a follow up call or meeting may be scheduled to further discuss the project. Please allow an appropriate amount of time (approximately 2 weeks) for approval of support letters in your project planning timeline.
A Letter of Support is a letter issued by the department to nonprofits or other grant applicants stating the department’s support of a specific project, program, or funding request. This letter demonstrates that the proposed project aligns with the city’s broader community goals and addresses a recognized need. While it highlights the project’s merits and public benefit, it does not legally bind the city to financial commitments or regulatory approvals.

A Letter of Compliance is a letter issued by the department to confirm that a proposed development, project, or policy aligns with the goals and policies of the city’s Comprehensive Plan. Often requested by organizations, developers, or individuals, this letter serves as verification that the proposal complies with the city’s long-term vision.
