City Farms

CitiParks' City Farms program works to increase the production of locally grown food and influence the health and growth of the city’s greenspaces by assisting the city’s urban farms and gardens through a variety of support initiatives.
Examples include:
- Connect City resources to urban food producing gardens and farms.
- Providing direct support to gardens and farms located on City property by way of planning, material support (like tools, compost, deer fencing), plants (seedlings and fruit/ nut trees), and on-going technical assistance.
- Fostering connection between the network of local food growers and partnership organizations.
- Assisting with efforts to connect growers to land through the City’s Adopt-A-Lot Vacant Lot Program and other opportunities.
- Support opportunities for city residents to engage in local food production, through education or experience.
- Provide a grower’s perspective to conversations internally at the City.
Urban farms and gardens provide a wealth of benefits through building community, connecting neighbors, beautifying, activating vacant spaces, increasing the health of soil, air, and water, providing healthy food, providing healthy food education and experiences, strengthening the local economy, and supporting small businesses opportunities.
