The Citizen Police Review Board (CPRB) is an independent agency within the City of Pittsburgh set up to investigate citizen complaints about improper conduct by the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.

The Office of Municipal Investigations (OMI) is responsible for coordinating the receipt, analysis and investigation of citizen complaints of civil and/or criminal misconduct alleged against employees of the City of Pittsburgh. This includes uniformed personnel such as Fire, Police, EMS, and Building Inspection employees.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development investigates complaints of discrimination in the area of housing. The Commission dual files employment complaints with HUD (where federal and local protections overlap) and is substantially equivalent in its adjudication of housing discrimination investigations.
