Requesting Public Records

To request City of Pittsburgh records (such as police records, permit records, etc), please follow the directions here from the Law Department or by emailing openrecords@pittsburghpa.gov. We will redirect your request to Law if you send a general City record request to us.

If you are looking for Commission on Human Relations records specifically (having to to do with past discrimination cases, for instance), follow the directions below:

If you would like to request public records from PghCHR, please do so by downloading, filling out, and submitting the Standard Right-to-Know Request Form, which is available at the PA Office of Open Records Forms webpage, to PghCHR's Open Records Officer ("AORO") as follows:

To challenge the denial, partial denial, or deemed denial of a request for Agency records, an appeal may be filed using the OOR appeal form, or by contacting the OOR at the following address:
