UMPC police are investigating. At approximately 9:00 a.m., the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire and Hazmat teams responded to the 1400 block of Locust Street following reports of a suspicious package located inside an office.

An employee reportedly opened the package and discovered a powdery substance inside along with a threatening note, prompting a call to 911.

One individual was transported for further evaluation, and two others were assessed on scene.

As a precaution, the Mercy Pavilion entrance was closed for approximately two hours. Particular floors and individuals were required to shelter in place or evacuate during this time.
