At approximately 12:15 a.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 2 were dispatched to the unit block of Market Square in Downtown for reports of a shooting.
Officers arriving at the scene located an adult male victim on a sidewalk who was conscious and alert, and had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.
Bystanders and officers rendered aid to the victim before medics arrived, including applying a tourniquet. The victim was then transported by Pittsburgh EMS in stable condition to an area hospital.
Witnesses described to officers that the victim had been in some kind of altercation with another male prior to the shooting taking place. The male actor then fled the scene on foot.
The Mobile Crime Unit responded to process evidence at the scene, including recovered shell casings and reviewing all available camera footage.
Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating. The investigation is ongoing.
