On September 9, 2024, Pittsburgh Fire, Police and EMS were dispatched to a residential structure fire on the 2000 block of Maple Avenue in Perry South at approximately 8:30 a.m.
A resident told first responders she heard a loud noise in the kitchen and saw flames coming out of her toaster. Firefighters report the fire spread from the kitchen throughout the home.
The Fire Investigation Unit determined an electric malfunction originating in a kitchen outlet caused the fire.
