Gunshot Wound Victim Arrives at Hospital After Village Burglary

Summary:

Just before 10:25 p.m., Zone 2 officers were called to an address in the 300 block of Burrows Street for a reported burglary in progress.

The female victim told police she had just ended a relationship with the male suspect when he showed up at her house and kicked in the back door. He reportedly then ran outside to the front of the house and kicked in the front door and charged inside when the victim fired at him.

The male fled the area in a vehicle and later walked into Mercy hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his abdomen and was taken into surgery. The vehicle was found abandoned near Duquesne University and towed to the Auto Squad.

The suspect is currently in custody at the hospital on an unrelated warrant out of Greene County and is in the process of being charged with this latest incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
