Stadium Authority

The Stadium Authority owned Three Rivers Stadium and the land on which it sat. Located between Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park. The Stadium Authority is responsible for the development of that land from surface parking to a mixed use urban development. This land includes West General Robinson Street Garage, Gold 1 Garage, and the surface lots between both stadiums, known as the “Option Area.” The Option Area was established in 2003 by the Stadium Authority, the Sports & Exhibition Authority of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County (“SEA”), the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Stadium Authority is responsible for the development of that land from surface parking to a mixed-use urban development. Completed and ongoing development includes parking garages, residential complexes, office buildings, restaurant and retail spaces, and recreational facilities.

The following surface lots between Acrisure Stadium and PNC Park are owned by the Stadium Authority:

  • Gold Lot 1
  • Lot 2
  • Red Lot 5A
  • Lots 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D, 7E, 7F, 7G, 7H, 7J

The Stadium Authority has a five-member board; each member is appointed by the Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh. The Stadium Authority operates in coordination with the SEA. Both share the same Executive Director and staff.
