About Firemen’s Relief and Pension Fund

Our Legal Foundation

The Firemen’s Relief and Pension Fund of the City of Pittsburgh was established pursuant to the Second Class City Firemen’s Relief Law (Act of May 25, 1933, P.L. 1050, No. 242). This Pennsylvania statute provides the legal framework for the creation, administration, and governance of firemen’s relief and pension funds in second class cities.

The Fund exists to fulfill the statutory promise of retirement and relief benefits to the firefighters who serve the City of Pittsburgh.
