Fishing
The 2026 fishing season at Lake Carnegie is expected to begin this April. Several groups will be hosting events on the Highland Park Lake, as well as regularly scheduled urban fishing sessions at the lake on a regular basis. The three groups are: Pittsburgh Let's Go Fishing, Anglers Fishing Club of Pittsburgh and Fishburgh Outdoors. For more information on the groups, their events and schedule please scroll below.
Group 1: Pittsburgh Let's Go Fishing
This program is dedicated to empowering community mentors to guide at-risk youth through the simple yet powerful act of fishing. By creating opportunities to connect at local lakes, the initiative aims to strengthen families, build meaningful relationships, and support positive growth—one kid, one fish, and one family at a time. Through restoring inner-city fishing spaces and expanding access across Pennsylvania, the program uses fishing as a hands-on educational tool to promote mental, social, and physical development while opening the door to new opportunities for urban youth.

The Anglers Fishing Club of Pittsburgh is a community-driven program focused on creating meaningful fishing opportunities for youth and families across the Pittsburgh area. Built around a dedicated network of experienced volunteer anglers, the organization provides free fishing lessons, equipment, and hands-on guidance to help participants of all skill levels learn and enjoy the sport. Through regular events, youth programs, and family-friendly activities—often held at local waterways like Lake Carnegie—the club aims to build confidence, strengthen relationships, and foster personal growth while making fishing accessible and welcoming to everyone.
