Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Holds Promotions Ceremony

PITTSBURGH, PA - On Monday, June 22, 2026, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police held a promotions ceremony in Council Chambers to swear in two new sergeants and an assistant chief. 

Detectives Gabriel Lambright and Kevin Clark were promoted to the rank of sergeant while Commander Lori McCartney became an assistant chief, following a 33-year career with the Bureau of Police. 

Chief Jason Lando congratulated all three on taking the next steps in their law enforcement journey and acknowledged their consistent professionalism and integrity on the job. 

"Promotions are amongst the most meaningful and most exciting events for any law enforcement organization. They not only recognize past accomplishments, but also the trust we place in individuals to help lead us into the future," said Chief Lando. 

"Today we are honoring three law enforcement professionals who have earned that trust through their dedication and commitment to service." 

Public Safety Director Sheldon Williams reminded the new sergeants and assistant chief that promotions are not only a time to celebrate, but a time to accept greater responsibility.

"Your actions will now carry a greater weight. The officers will look to you for your guidance, support, and your example. The community will judge this department not only by what you say, but how you lead," said Director Williams.

Before administering the Oath of Office, Mayor Corey O'Connor thanked the newly promoted members for their integrity and their desire to work in the City of Pittsburgh.

"We are committed to selecting the best leaders for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police," said Mayor Corey O'Connor. "Today, we are promoting three highly respected individuals who have continually demonstrated leadership, accountability, integrity and respect in the Bureau. I thank them for their continued commitment to serving our officers and our communities."
