UPDATE: Pittsburgh Police Respond to Stolen Vehicle Detected in Zone 1

UPDATE: At approximately 12:15 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 6 were notified of an abandoned vehicle on Brutus Way in Sheraden, matching the description of the suspect vehicle involved.
No suspects were located at the scene. The vehicle was towed by the Auto Squad for processing. The Mobile Crime Unit is on scene.
The investigation is ongoing.

At approximately 10:00 a.m., Pittsburgh Police received reports that a stolen vehicle was traveling through Zone 6. The vehicle was detected by a license plate reader upon entering Zone 1.
Shortly thereafter, the reported stolen vehicle and another passenger vehicle were seen driving through the Zone 1 station parking lot. Both vehicles were occupied by masked individuals and were honking their horns as they passed.
Officers tracked the two vehicles at the intersection of Federal Street and Lafayette Avenue. As officers attempted to exit their patrol vehicle, one of the suspect vehicles struck an officer.
The officer sustained moderate head injuries and transported themselves to a local hospital. Both suspect vehicles continued to flee.
One of the suspect vehicles was later spiked near the 10th Street Bridge, but continued fleeing. The vehicle proceeded onto Boulevard of the Allies and Grant Street, where multiple suspects exited the vehicle.
Officers were able to apprehend four individuals at the scene.
The second suspect vehicle remains at large, and officers are actively searching for it.
The investigation is ongoing. Charges are forthcoming.
