Published on May 05, 2026
Just before 5:45 pm on May 5, 2026, Zone 4 officers responded to the Sephora store located in the 100 block of Shady Avenue for a reported fight inside the store. Arriving units encountered an adult female outside who was bleeding heavily from the head. EMS transported her to the hospital for treatment.
The victim told police she had briefly engaged with a group of six juvenile females while passing a bus stop, when they began following her and taunting her. She told officers she briefly ducked into one business to take cover in a bathroom before they followed her into Sephora.
Once inside the store, the juveniles continued screaming at her, throwing glass bottles and products at her, punching, kicking, and ultimately beating her with a metal sign while others barricaded the door so she could not leave. She was eventually able to get out just as police were arriving.
Officers identified and detained all six females. Upon consultation with the DA's office, the females (ages 14-17) were processed as juveniles and charged with Aggravated Assault, Criminal Mischief, Disorderly Conduct/Fighting, Simple Assault, and Criminal Conspiracy. Three of them were charged with providing false identification to law enforcement.
The loss prevention officer for the store estimated the damage at approximately $30,000.
Crime Scene Unit detectives processed the scene.
