Just before 10:30 a.m., the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police from Zone 1 were dispatched for a reported assault in the 1300 block of Diana Street in the Spring Hill-City View neighborhood.

Preliminary information indicates that an adult male suspect struck an adult male victim in the head with a hammer before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Pittsburgh EMS did respond to the scene but was ultimately disregarded.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., the Real Time Crime Center located the suspect's vehicle in the Polish Hill neighborhood. Officers attempted a traffic stop at Bigelow Boulevard and Heron Avenue; however, the suspect continued driving outbound on Bigelow Boulevard.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect crashed at the intersection of O’Hara and De Soto Streets in the Oakland neighborhood and fled the scene on foot. Pittsburgh Police officers, with the assistance of the Drone Unit, are working to locate the suspect.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
