Pittsburgh EMS & Police Respond to Fall at PPG Paints Arena

At approximately 7:15 p.m., Pittsburgh EMS and Pittsburgh Police working a detail at PPG Paints Arena were alerted by security staff that an individual had fallen from the upper concourse into the lower concourse.

According to initial reports, an adult male fell from the 200 level of the arena. During the fall, he struck another individual located in the suite level below before continuing to fall to the 100 level.

Paramedics and PPG Paints personnel inside the arena responded immediately and located the critically injured patient. Pittsburgh EMS paramedics transported the patient to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The individual who was struck during the incident was evaluated by paramedics on scene and declined transport to the hospital.

The Mobile Crime Unit responded to document the scene. Major Crimes detectives are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fall.
