UPDATE: The adult male victim in this incident was pronounced deceased at the hospital earlier this morning, May 12. The investigation is active and ongoing as detectives review video footage and continue to investigate all available leads.

Just after 11:00 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from the Downtown Public Safety Center (DPSC) were dispatched to Market Square for reports of shots fired.
DPSC officers were on the scene within moments and located an adult male victim with two gunshot wounds to the chest. Officers applied chest seals and rendered aid to the victim until medics arrived.
Pittsburgh EMS transported the victim in critical condition to an area hospital where he was taken directly into surgery.
Witnesses reported to officers that the male victim was involved in an altercation with a known-to-him male actor prior to the shooting taking place.
The Mobile Crime Unit was called to the scene to process evidence, including recovered shell casings.
Violent Crime Unit detectives are leading the investigation. There are no arrests at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
