Pittsburgh Police Investigating Shooting in Homewood South

Just before 7:30 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 were dispatched to the 500 block of Rosedale Street in the Homewood South neighborhood for two separate ShotSpotter alerts totaling fifteen rounds.

Arriving officers located a teenage juvenile male with a gunshot wound to his upper thigh. Officers applied a tourniquet to stem the bleeding until medics arrived at the scene.

Pittsburgh EMS transported the male to an area hospital in stable condition.

Witnesses describe that a group of approximately ten juveniles were gathered in the street prior to the shooting.

Two males were seen fleeing the scene on foot directly after the shooting. Officers initiated a foot pursuit and stopped and detailed those males a few blocks away. They were both transported to Police Headquarters for questioning.

There are no arrests at this time. Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating. The investigation is ongoing.
