Just before 1:45 a.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 2 were dispatched to the 600 block of Chauncey Street in the city’s Middle Hill neighborhood for three separate ShotSpotter alerts totaling seventeen rounds.

Officers arriving to the scene located a vehicle—with bullet damage—and multiple shell casings near the intersection of Chauncey Street and Webster Avenue.

Several blocks away, near the intersection of Wylie Avenue and Junilla Street, officers located an adult male victim who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and arm. Officers rendered aid to the victim, including applying chest seals and a tourniquet, until medics arrived.

The victim was transported in critical condition by Pittsburgh EMS to a local hospital. He was taken directly into surgery upon arrival.

The initial investigation indicates the victim was returning to his vehicle when the shooting took place.

The Mobile Crime Unit responded to process evidence at the scene.

Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.
