Violence Prev Unit Detectives Make Arrests, Recover Firearms, Drugs

Summary:

Over the past week, Violence Prevention Unit (VPU) detectives, in conjunction with Narcotics and Vice, Robbery Unit detectives, the Fugitive Apprehension Unit (FAU), and zone officers, made multiple arrests and recovered firearms and narcotics around the city.

On May 22, VPU and Narcotics detectives arrested Andre Tucker and Jaylin Jackson of Detroit, Michigan, following a traffic stop. During the investigation, police discovered a duffle bag with more than $60,000 in cash and a small amount of marijuana. Further investigation revealed the pair delivered a large sum of marijuana for the money. A search warrant was obtained for an address in the South Side flats, where a sizable amount of marijuana was discovered.

A third warrant is pending from this incident.

Also on May 22, in the 400 block of Jonathan Court, VPU assisted Robbery and FAU with surveillance of a residence and the arrest of five business robbery suspects who were taken into custody while in a vehicle used in the robbery. A search of the vehicle and the associated house yielded evidence of the robbery.

Three firearms were recovered.

Tyrone Beasley, 20, Isaiah Acie, 22, Tony Troutman, 21, Marcus Burgess, 20, and Anthony Reed, 18, were arrested and charged with a variety of robbery and firearms charges.

In the early morning hours of May 24, detectives working a proactive patrol of Homewood spotted a stolen vehicle on Sterrett Street near Kelly Street. The driver was found with crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, as well as two firearms, including a Glock with an extended magazine and full auto switch modification.

Tyler Goodnight, 26, was arrested and charged with multiple firearms violations and a variety of drug charges.

Also on May 24, VPU detectives made a firearms-related arrest while working on the South Side. Tyland Davis, 26, was charged with Carrying a Firearm Without a License and various traffic violations.

On May 25, VPU detectives working in the area of Liberty Avenue and Market St. observed two males who they believed to be armed. They fled on foot when they were approached by police and were taken into custody in an underground parking garage a short time later.

Nolan Hill, 19, was arrested and charged with Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Tampering With Evidence, and Evading Arrest or Detention on Foot.

The second male is a juvenile who was not charged.
