River Rescue Responds for Male in the Allegheny River

Summary:

At approximately 2:30 p.m., River Rescue was dispatched to the 9th Street/Rachel Carson Bridge for reports of a male that was seen going into the water from the Downtown side of the Allegheny River.

Two River Rescue boats responded, along with three divers. The divers made a total of four dives before the body of an adult male was recovered.

He was pronounced deceased by medics on scene at 3:50 p.m.

The victim's identity, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be determined by the Allegheny County Office of the Medical Examiner.
