Date: October 4, 2024 Incident Type: Collision, Fire Location: Zone 3 Summary:
At approximately 11:20 p.m., Police, Fire, and EMS were dispatched for a reported fire at the Coen gas station on Carson St. at E. 24th.
Upon arrival they located a fire in the area of the gas pumps after it was struck by a vehicle. Pittsburgh Fire quickly extinguished the fire. The male driver was already out of the vehicle and in the street where he began fighting with officers.
Immediately before he hit the gas pumps, the suspect also struck an occupied vehicle in the alley behind the gas station and fled the scene. The driver of that vehicle was not hurt.
It's believed the male was heavily under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. He was placed in custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation.
One officer went to the hospital to be treated for an injury to his hand.
The investigation is ongoing.
