Police Arrest Male for Assaulting Female, Impersonating Public Servant

On March 15, 2024, Special Victims Unit detectives arrested Andrew Ranallo, 31, of Bloomfield for Indecent Assault, Criminal Attempt Indecent Assault, False Imprisonment, and Impersonating a Public Servant.

A female victim met Ranallo for the first time at a restaurant in Pittsburgh. After a period of time, Ranallo identified himself as a "police officer" by way of identification cards.

The victim said she then felt safe to go to another location with him when he assaulted her inside his vehicle and refused to let her out. She took the opportunity to jump out of the vehicle when they were stopped at a red light and ran for help.

Ranallo is being held at the ACJ.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
