Pittsburgh Police from Zone 2 responded to an eight-round ShotSpotter alert on Chauncey Drive at 2:45 a.m.
Officers received information that a possible suspect vehicle had left the area. They followed it to Centre Ave. and N. Craig Street in Oakland where they conducted a traffic stop.
As officers were taking the driver into custody, the passenger ran off into a large parking garage. Units from several police zones searched the structure, but were unable to locate the individual.
A firearm was recovered from the vehicle.
The driver was arrested on firearms violations and is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
