Mayor O'Connor Proposes Real Estate Tax Discount Deadline Extension to February 17, 2026

Pittsburgh, PA – After snow-related postal delays affected the delivery of residents’ real estate taxes by mail, Mayor Corey O’Connor and the Department of Finance have proposed extending the deadline for real estate tax discounts by one week to February 17, 2026. The additional week would allow more taxpayers to take advantage of the incentive, whether they pay in full or in installments.

The City of Pittsburgh offers an annual real estate tax discount to taxpayers who pay by the early discount deadline. Taxpayers who take advantage of this get 2% off their payment, which applies whether they are paying their full annual tax due or the first installment of their taxes.

Mayor O’Connor’s legislation to extend the discount deadline will be introduced to City Council on Wednesday morning with a preliminary vote expected Wednesday afternoon.

While all real estate taxes are mailed, taxpayers can also access them and pay through the Department of Finance’s real estate online payment system.

The non-discounted deadline for real estate taxes or first installments is February 27, 2026.
