MEDIA ADVISORY: Mayor Ed Gainey, City Council, and Advocates to Celebrate Historic Community Investment in Violence Prevention 

Mayor will sign Stop the Violence Bill in Ceremony Honoring Community Led Progress 

WHO: Mayor Ed Gainey, City Council President Daniel Lavelle, Council Members Khari Mosely and Barb Warwick, Stop the Violence Fund (STV Fund) Grantees, and Community Advocates 

WHAT: The City will hold a celebratory press conference and official signing of the Stop the Violence Fund 2025 Community Investment Grant Awardees bill. This event will honor the powerful work being done, highlighting a three-year decline in violence among youth and adults while celebrating the resilience, advocacy and leadership of grassroots organizations and community members.  

WHEN: Monday, September 15th at 1 PM 

WHERE: City-County Building, 5th Floor, 414 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 

WHY: The 39 STV Fund Community Investment Grantees work to protect our youth, young adults, and impacted neighborhoods underscores the power of community-driven solutions and collaborative governance. The event recognizes their impact and affirms the city’s commitment to long-term peace, safety, and future community investment.
