Community Budget Engagements to be Held for Public Input into City’s 2027 Budgets
Pittsburgh, PA – Mayor Corey O’Connor is launching a series of community engagement meetings across the city to gather firsthand feedback directly from residents about their priorities for the City of Pittsburgh’s 2027 capital and operating budgets. The forums are an opportunity for neighbors to provide their input for what the City should fund, where investments should be made and how resources should be used.
There will be four Budget Engagements held across the city:
- May 20 at 6 PM at the South Side Market House, 49 S 12th Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203
- May 26 at 6 PM at the Greenfield Healthy Active Living Center, 745 Greenfield Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15217
- May 28 at 6 PM at the North Side Institutional Church, 302 W North Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
- June 3 at 6 PM at the Catalyst Academy, 7061 Lemington Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15206
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about Mayor O’Connor’s priorities and share their own. The forums will follow a deliberative democracy model that’s designed to gather meaningful community input by encouraging respect for diverse viewpoints and ensuring all voices are heard.
Residents are encouraged to provide feedback on both the capital and operating budgets. The Capital Budget supports projects to design, build, restore, maintain or acquire City-owned assets. The Operating Budget covers the day-to-day costs to run the local government.
Those who cannot attend can fill out the online form at: https://engage.pittsburghpa.gov/city-pittsburgh-budget-engagements
Each year, the City of Pittsburgh undertakes a budgeting process across all departments, taking resident input from the budget engagement forums into account. The 2027 budget is presented to City Council in November, who provide final approval of the budget and how funds are distributed across all nine city council districts.
