Pittsburgh, PA – The City of Pittsburgh is pleased to announce the installation of new disc golf baskets and an upgraded tee sign at Schenley Park Golf Course. This project was a joint effort with CitiParks, Department of Public Works, Pittsburgh Flying Disc, and Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD).

“Disc golf is more than just a sport—it’s a way for our community to come together, enjoy the outdoors, and stay active,” said Mayor Ed Gainey. “I’m proud to support the continued growth and enhancement of Schenley Park’s disc golf course, which is a testament to Pittsburgh’s commitment to recreation, wellness, and community partnerships.”

Through a partnership between CitiParks, Pittsburgh Flying Disc, and the Hunt Foundation, the disc golf course was constructed in 1988—making it the city’s first permanent disc golf course.

"As the most played disc golf course in Western Pennsylvania, Schenley Park is deserving of this basket and tee sign upgrade,” said J. Gary Dropcho, Pittsburgh Flying Disc Course Superintendent. For 37 years, hundreds of thousands of rounds have been played here by disc golfers from Pittsburgh and around the country. We are grateful for the partnership to continue to improve this excellent recreational facility for residents and visitors of our city."

In addition, the City is also hosting a frisbee golf tournament in conjunction with Pittsburgh Flying Disc on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Schenley Park to raise fund for the 2026 PDGA Junior World Championships.
