City Recreation Centers Open for Remote Learning and Hosting Youth Draft Parties Next Week

Pittsburgh, PA – The City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Parks and Recreation (CitiParks) is hosting a series of fun, engaging programs for youth and families at City Recreation Centers during next week’s Pittsburgh NFL Draft, including extended hours and Draft Parties at two centers.

From Wednesday, April 22 through Friday, April 24, all CitiParks recreation centers will open early for youth and remote learning students. Youth will have access to internet, supplies, activities, breakfast and lunch throughout the school day. All 10 recreation centers will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM those days, except Jefferson Recreation Center, which will be open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM each of those days.

On Thursday and Friday, youth are then invited to join the CitiParks Draft Parties from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at Ammon Rec Center and Magee Rec Center. Draft Parties will include food and special activities including:

  • Thursday: punt, pass and kick games, flag football skills challenges and raffles
  • Friday: flag clinic with Pittsburgh Flag Football League

CitiParks Draft Parties will culminate with flag football games on Saturday, April 25 from 12:00 – 3:00 PM at Ammon Rec Center and Magee Rec Center. Registration is not required.

Virtual learning supplies, activities and Draft Parties are thanks to partnership with CitiParks, A+ Schools, the Education Partnership, Pittsburgh Flag Football League, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and VisitPITTSBURGH.
