Pittsburgh, PA – The City of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Bureau of Police removed 151 cars as part of the citywide abandoned vehicle blitz that was announced last month. Police in each of the bureau’s six zones across the city removed vehicles that had reported as abandoned for weeks up to several years.

“Thank you to the Pittsburgh Police for coordinating the removal of these vehicles that have created blight in our neighborhoods,” said Mayor Corey O’Connor. “This abandoned vehicle blitz helped remove over 150 cars – 99 of which had been reported to 311 – that have been a nuisance in our communities and we will continue to remove these vehicles from our streets.”

Vehicles were towed if they had been reported to the City either through 311, police zones or other City offices and were presumed abandoned per the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code outlined here.

Residents who are concerned about abandoned vehicles on public property in their neighborhoods should contact 311 with the location, make, model, color and license plate information.
