At approximately 1:30 pm, Pittsburgh Police and EMS responded to the 5600 block of Baum Boulevard for a reported vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision.
Preliminary reports indicate that a City of Pittsburgh work truck was clearing the roadway when it struck two pedestrians while backing up. Neither pedestrian was associated with the Pittsburgh Marathon. The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with officers.
At the time of the incident, the route remained closed to regular traffic but runners had already passed through the area.
