UPDATE: Pittsburgh Police Respond to Domestic Situation, One Arrested

UPDATE: Sterling M. Smith, 22, of Pittsburgh was arrested in connection with this incident. Smith faces a number of charges including strangulation, endangering the welfare of children, terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and reckless driving. He remains in the Allegheny County Jail.

At approximately 6:15 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 1 were called to the 300 block of Cedar Avenue in East Allegheny for reports of a domestic altercation in a gas station parking lot.

Arriving officers located an adult female victim who stated that she had been in an altercation with the father of her child. She told officers that her and the adult male actor had arrived at the scene in separate vehicles and inside her vehicle was their five-month-old child.

The female victim then told officers that the actor took her vehicle, with the child inside, and fled the scene.

The actor vehicle was tracked to a residence in Duquesne, PA and the male was taken into custody without further incident.

The child was safely recovered, with no injuries, and was reunited with the mother.

The female victim was medically evaluated and cleared by Pittsburgh EMS at the scene.

The male actor was transported to the Allegheny County Jail. Charges are forthcoming.
