Date: February 8, 2024 Incident Type: Aggravated Assault Location: Zone 5 Summary:
Pittsburgh Police from Zone 5 and Pittsburgh EMS were dispatched at approximately 11:00 p.m. to the 7200 block of Frankstown Avenue for an eight-round ShotSpotter alert.
Arriving responders quickly located a 53-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was conscious, alert, and speaking with officers and medics. He was transported by medics to an area hospital in stable condition.
A nearby convenience store received damage to the front door from the gunfire.
The Mobile Crime Unit processed evidence at the scene, including numerous shell casings. They will also continue to review all available video footage.
Detectives are investigating. The investigation is ongoing.
