Bureau of Fire Responds for 1-Alarm Residential Fire in Lincoln Place

Summary:

At approximately 3 a.m, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire responded to reports of a residential fire in the 4700 block of Interboro Avenue.

When firefighters arrived they found a couch that had caught fire and was believed to have been caused by careless smoking. The resident had attempted to put out the fire before they arrived and firefighters ensured it was extinguished and ventilated the house before leaving.

At 6:25 a.m., neighbors reported flames coming from the same house and firefighters returned to a fully involved 1-alarm fire.

One firefighter was injured when part of the ceiling collapsed on his helmet. Medics transported him to the hospital for evaluation in stable condition.

The sole resident was not at home at the time of the second fire. There were no other injuries to firefighters or civilians.

The Fire Investigation Unit is investigating the exact cause.
