Pittsburgh, PA – The City of Pittsburgh’s administrative offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 in observance of Labor Day. Additional City facilities and services will be modified on Monday due to the holiday.
DPW Environmental Services Garbage and Recycling Collection
There will be no City of Pittsburgh refuse, recycling or bulk waste collection on Monday, September 7.
The collection schedule will proceed as follows:
Residents can see their scheduled collection days, including holiday schedules, on the annual collection schedule and newsletter. The Strip District recycling drop-off location at 3001 Railroad Street will be open, but all other City recycling drop-off locations will be closed for Labor Day.

CitiParks
The following CitiParks facilities will be closed on Monday:
Six pools will be open on Monday for the last day of the season: Bloomfield, Highland, Jack Stack, Magee, Moore and Ream. Each pool will be open from 12:00-1:00 PM for daily Adult Lap Swim and 1:00 – 5:45 PM for daily Family Swim. Spray parks will also be open on Monday.
Parking Authority
All on-street and off-street Pittsburgh Parking Authority meters will be free on Labor Day. All Pittsburgh Parking Authority parking garages will be programmed for holiday rates on Monday, as well.
Special Events
A variety of special events will be happening around the city on Monday, which may include road closures. Those permitted events with road closures include:
