City Awarded $1.2M in State Grants for New Fire Truck and Housing Redevelopment
Pittsburgh, PA – Mayor Corey O’Connor has announced that the City was awarded two grants totaling over $1.2 million from the Statewide Local Share Account (LSA).
Senator Wayne Fontana and Senator Lindsey Williams secured an $800,000 grant for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire to be used towards purchasing a new pumper truck, helping to invest in a modern and reliable fleet of fire apparatus. Senator Fontana also secured a $450,000 grant for the Pittsburgh Land Bank to stabilize properties in the Hilltop neighborhoods to be rebuilt and redeveloped into housing.
“Thanks to Senator Fontana and Senator William’s leadership, the City will receive over $1.2 million in LSA funding to purchase a new fire truck and stabilize property to redevelop housing in the Hilltop,” said Mayor Corey O’Connor. “This is a huge win for the City and we’re grateful to the Senators and the State for this investment in our communities.”
“I'm grateful to Senator Fontana for his steadfast commitment to the Land Bank and to neighborhood stabilization across blighted parts of Pittsburgh,” said City Councilperson Bob Charland, District 3. “This vital funding is an essential first step toward reversing neglect in my hilltop neighborhoods, hopefully bringing long overdue investment and new life to this part of our city.”
LSA grants are awarded to support projects in the public interest and are funded by gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
