Road Closure Alert for Funeral Procession and Funeral Mass for Battalion Chief Walsh

PITTSBURGH —
The City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety is issuing a road closure alert in advance of the funeral procession and Funeral Mass for Battalion Chief John P. Walsh.

On Monday, November 25, a Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Paul Cathedral on North Dithridge Street in Oakland.

To accommodate what is expected to be a large gathering, police will close Fifth Avenue from Bellefield Avenue to Wilkins Avenue from 8:00 a.m. until the service concludes (which is anticipated by 12:00 p.m.). Additional closures are expected on adjacent surface streets leading to Fifth Avenue to prevent traffic from entering the roadway.

Pittsburgh Regional Transit buses will be temporarily re-routed during the service.

Additionally, no parking signs from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. have been posted along Fifth Avenue from Bellefield Avenue to Wilkins Avenue. Tagging and towing will begin at 6:00 a.m. for vehicles that remain.

Morning commuters are advised to seek an alternate route.
