Zone 2 Detectives Arrest Man on Multiple Thefts from Vehicles

On October 29, 2025, plainclothes detectives from Zone 2 arrested John Olszewski on multiple warrants for property thefts, mainly from vehicles in parking garages Downtown and on the North Side.

Olszewski was in possession of a firearm when he was taken into custody on Smithfield Street.

He faces multiple charges including carrying a firearm without a license, person not to possess, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, theft from a motor vehicle, access device fraud, and prohibited acts.

Olszewski was transported to the Allegheny County Jail.
