VPU Detectives Make Gun, Drug Arrests in Carrick

In the early morning hours of May 8, 2026, Violence Prevention Unit detectives conducted an investigation outside a business located in the 1600 block of Brownsville Road.

Subsequent to the investigation and search warrants obtained, detectives made two arrests, recovered a total of seven firearms, quantities of cocaine, four bundles of heroin, two bricks of heroin, marijuana, and more than $5600 dollars in U.S. currency.

Mello Williams, 24, of Pittsburgh faces multiple charges including persons not to possess, carrying a firearm without a license, fleeing or eluding police, and narcotics charges.

Matyus Stewart, 19, of Pittsburgh is charged with carrying a firearm without a license and prohibited acts/possession.

The investigation is ongoing.
