VPU Detectives Execute Search Warrant at Downtown Smoke Shop

Following multiple community complaints of possible drug dealing and tobacco sales to minors, Violence Prevention Unit detectives, with the assistance of Tax Revenue Officers, Narcotics and Vice, Mobile Crime Unit detectives, and Downtown Public Safety Center officers, executed search warrants at Smoking Starz Smoke Shop in Market Square on December 17.

Police recovered untaxed cigarettes, a large amount marijuana, packaging materials, paraphernalia, THC gummies, cash, and two firearms. One male was arrested on scene for illegal possession of a handgun.

Additional arrests are expected following consultation with the District Attorney's Office. The investigation is ongoing.
