VCU Detectives Investigate Strip District Homicide

Just after 10:40 p.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 2 were dispatched to the intersection of 27th and Liberty Ave. in the Strip District for a reported shooting.

Arriving units located a female down and unresponsive on the sidewalk with a single gunshot wound to the face. Officers performed CPR until Pittsburgh EMS arrived and transported her to the hospital in critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

The Mobile Crime Unit processed evidence at the scene. Three people were detained and transported to police headquarters to be questioned by Violent Crime Unit detectives.

The investigation is ongoing.
