VCD Detectives Investigate Bedford Dwellings Homicide

Just before 2:30 a.m., Zone 2 officers responded to a 1-round ShotSpotter alert in the 2500 block of Chauncey Drive.

Arriving units located an unresponsive male down on the ground in the courtyard. Medics transported him to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Police detained one male for questioning. Medics treated him on scene for a minor graze wound to the left side of his face that did not require transport.

A third male showed up at the hospital by private means with a gunshot wound to the leg. He told officers he was struck by a stray bullet in the 2400 block of Webster Ave. Officers were unable to locate a crime scene at that location. It's not clear at this time if the two incidents are connected.

Violent Crime Division detectives are investigating. The investigation is ongoing.
