Police Respond to Assault Call in Banksville Neighborhood

Just after 9:45 a.m., Pittsburgh Police from Zone 6 responded to a residence in the 2600 block of Winchester Drive for reports of a female who had been assaulted.

Inside the home, officers located a female with significant facial lacerations/injuries. Pittsburgh EMS transported the victim to the hospital in critical condition.

During a protective sweep of the residence, police located a male on the second floor with a gunshot wound to the head. Medics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Crime Scene Unit detectives processed evidence and Violent Crime Unit detectives will continue with the investigation.
