Police Make Arrest in Hill District Shooting Incident, One Injured

FINAL UPDATE: Police arrested Natale Coaston, 35, of Pittsburgh in connection with this incident.
Coaston is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Persons not to Possess, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and Prohibited Acts.
He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.

Original incident details:

Police from multiple zones responded to the 2500 block of Chauncey Drive on August 22, 2025 just before 2 a.m. for reports of an individual shot.

Arriving units located a female with a gunshot wound to the back. Medics transported her to the hospital in critical condition. She has since been upgraded to stable condition.

Multiple people were in the vicinity at the time of the shooting. CCTV footage shows a male suspect get into a vehicle with Louisiana plates and flee the area.

Mobile Crime Unit detectives have arrived to process the scene.

The Violent Crime Unit will be investigating.
