At approximately 7:20 p.m., Pittsburgh Police, Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Neville Street in Oakland for reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.
Arriving responders located an unconscious adult female with injuries to her head. She was transported by Pittsburgh EMS in critical condition to an area hospital. She was taken immediately into surgery.
The initial investigation indicates that a vehicle was travelling outbound on Fifth Avenue when an opposing vehicle, travelling inbound on Fifth Avenue, attempted to make a left onto Neville Street.
The outbound vehicle swerved to avoid a collision and inadvertently struck the female pedestrian.
The adult male driver stayed on the scene and was fully cooperative with police.
The incident was captured on CCTV.
Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating. The investigation is ongoing.
