Police, Fire, EMS Respond to Fatal Crash on Bridge Ramp

Pittsburgh Police, Fire, and EMS were dispatched to the Fort Duquesne Bridge ramp at the Route 28/Route 65 split at 3 p.m. for a multi-vehicle collision.
One of the involved vehicles went off of the ramp and landed on Reedsdale Street below. Medics pronounced the male driver deceased at the scene.
On the bridge ramp, EMS Rescue 2 crews used the jaws of life to extricate a driver from a vehicle. The female patient was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries.
Medics evaluated all of the individuals from the other vehicles on scene and all refused transport to the hospital. A total of five vehicles were involved in the crash.
The Pittsburgh Police Collision Investigation Unit will work to determine the factors that led to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
