At approximately 3:30 p.m., the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Zone 3 responded to the intersection of Merrit Avenue and Brownsville Road for a reported assault in progress.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with an adult male victim who reported that two known and one unknown male entered his apartment and assaulted him. During the incident, one of the suspects referenced possessing a firearm, though one was never displayed, and attempted to steal his property. Three suspects fled on foot.
EMS treated the victim on scene for complaints of a minor head injury.
The Real Time Crime Center identified one suspect entering an apartment on Merritt Avenue. SWAT responded after the suspect did not exit the residence. The Drone Unit conducted a protective sweep of the premises.
At approximately 6:15 p.m., officers made contact with the barricaded individual. Charges are expected.
The investigation is ongoing.
