Just before 11:45 a.m., Pittsburgh Fire responded to the 1200 block of Dickson Street in Marshall-Shadeland for a two-alarm structure fire.
The fire increased to three alarms just before 1:30 p.m.
The residence where the fire originated was a duplex. The directly impacted unit was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The other unit of the duplex had no one living in it.
Three individuals from an adjacent single-family home were evacuated out of an abundance of caution.
A firefighter sustained a minor back injury while fighting the fire. They have since been treated and released. No civilian injuries were reported.
Fire Investigation Unit detectives were able to determine the fire began from a candle in a first floor living room.
